F&S’ Diversity and Inclusion Committee is excited to welcome experts from The Autism Program (TAP) at the University of Illinois as the guest speakers at the next Noontime Knowledge Wednesday, July 15, at noon. Adrienne Shockley, associate director of TAP and an instructor of autism and neurodiversity in the Department of Human Development & Family Services, and Cassie Alpers, the assistant director of TAP, will speak on the topic “Supporting Autistic and Neurodiverse Individuals.”
With their work overseeing TAP’s Resource Room and with the autism community, Shockley and Alpers have both theoretical and practical knowledge to share. Come to this interesting talk that will discuss, among other things, the hypotheses as to how and why the number of autism diagnoses in the country is changing and how our understanding of autism has grown over time.
