Excavation activities for the Illini Hall replacement project will begin on Monday, September 15. The scale of the work will require an increased volume of haul truck visits at the construction site over several weeks.
To help limit traffic impacts as much as possible, designated construction flaggers will be utilized at the intersection of Wright Street and John Street to assist with trucks turning back northbound on Wright Street when ready to leave the area. Some periodic traffic delays, including for pedestrians, will occur as this activity takes place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. If possible, drivers and bicyclists are advised to use alternate routes.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as the work progresses this semester. Please follow the posted construction signage at all times and, if necessary, updated instructions from members of the project team while navigating the area.
Additional information about approved campus closures is available on the F&S website. For questions, contact Transportation Systems Manager Stacey DeLorenzo, 217-300-1750. Requests for project information should be directed to Senior Project Manager Joe Villanti.
